WESTERN AUSTRALIA - KIMBERLEY REGION Broome is on the Western coast of the Kimberley region in Western Australia, approximately 2200 Km North of Perth. Once the pearling capital of the world, Broome is now the centre of
cultured pearl farming. The multi-cultural city of Broome is bordered
by stretches of fine white sandy beach and magnificent turquoise waters,
stretches of deep red 'Pindan' cliffs and pockets of remnant rainforest
and an abundance of unusual wildlife. The images on the left show the location of Broome and also shows the view angle of the camera looking out over Cable Beach. Cable Beach extends all the way from Gantheame Point on the Southern end to Willie Creek to the North. You can just see the mouth of Willie Creek on the satellite image. Cable Beach is situated 7 km from town along a good bitumen road. The beach itself is some 22.5 km long with beautiful white sand that sets so hard when the tide goes out that you scarcely leave foot prints at the water's edge. Vehicle access to Cable Beach is currently allowed on a small section of the beach at Gantheame Point and also on the beach North of the vehicle ramp near the Zanders at Cable Beach Restaurant. This access ramp is at the North end of the Cable Beach car park (same location as the web camera). Please take note of all the warning and information signs regarding vehicle access. During periods of high tides vehicle access to and from the beach is not possible. Check the tide times before venturing onto the beach. Please note that the speed limit is 15 km/hr at all times on Cable Beach. |
